Technological Innovation in Physiological Sciences

There is collaborative work among researchers aimed at developing new therapeutic targets, new drugs, non-pharmacological clinical treatment techniques, and new therapeutic approaches to combat highly relevant pathologies in our society, such as hypertension, obesity, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, depression, and others. The integrated approach in these investigations allows for the optimal use of basic studies to develop viable responses and the development of products and/or knowledge that are potentially applicable. This is one of the areas with significant involvement and interaction in the private sector. Our national and international associations allow us to maintain research groups and laboratories that are functional, dynamic, and of high production quality, even in the current challenging Brazilian scenario. Our organizational structure and work approach enable significant advancements in the described thematic areas, including the practical application of basic knowledge to develop solutions for social problems and product development.
Despite the value of these achievements in the current scenario, we believe that the most significant product lies in the education of our students, whose technical and academic knowledge is formed in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, using multiple experimental models and technologies for solutions of both basic and applied value.
